Skype on Windows Phone


get-ready-for-skype-on-windows-phone Skype’s VP of products, Rick Osterioh, has recently revealed that Microsoft’s Windows Phone Skype will soon be released. Osterioh mentioned, during an interview at the consumer Electronics Show 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada, that a Windows Phone product will be coming out very soon to satisfy numerous Skype users.
Microsoft acquired the Internet voice and video calling service in October 2011 but still refuses to comment in the detail of its plans.
Joe Belfiore, Director of Windows Phone program, has originally announced that a Skype app will be available on Windows Phone in late 2011. But up to this day, there is no word or clarification regarding this promise.
Osterioh further informed that Skype will also be integrated in other products like Windows 8, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Lync however he refused to give detailed information on what type of app integration that Skype is working on.
Microsoft on the other hand is planning on its first Windows Phone Skype application which will be available until Windows Phone “Apollo” Is made available which is will be out late of this year.
At the MIX 2011, Microsoft demonstrated the Skype application. Many hopefuls are looking forward to a Skype app for Windows Phone at the Mobile World Congress in February 2012 in Barcelona, Spain.
Skype is one of the leaders in web text, voice and video calling with more than 30 million subscribers all around the world. It was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Luxembourg. Many users have found Skype services and applications of utmost quality and now that it is a division of Microsoft Corp. surely more consumers will be glad to be a part of Skype. Millions of Skype and Microsoft fans will truly await the Mobile World Congress for its grand unveiling.
